Looking back at the successful fCN Trade Mission 2014!

From October 28th till November 4th, fCN Netherlands and fCN Asia organized a successful trade mission to Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. With a group of 18 enthusiastic and ambitious entrepeneurs and CEO’s from different industries in the Netherlands our first stop was Beijing.

Here we joined the Trade Mission organized by the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, ICBC and the city of Amsterdam. Our members joined different matchmaking sessions with Chinese companies looking for new cooperations. But there was time for leisure too; we introduced everyone to the Chinese culture by visiting the very impressive Great Wall and the Forbidden City. Our members also experienced a very unique way to explore the city; by side-car!

After Beijing we continued our trip to Hong Kong where we visited the office of one our fCN Asia Board Members, Ed Barzilaij, CEO & Founder of Maximum Employment Marketing Group. Ed Barzilaij told us his inspiring story about doing business in Asia. In the evening we were invited by ABN AMRO on their beautiful Junk boat “De Florijn” where we enjoyed the impressive and beautiful skylines of Hong Kong Island and the harbour. After that a five-course dinner was waiting for us at the Philippe Starck designed restaurant ‘Felix’ located in the Peninsula Hotel with, again, stunning views and great company.

Next day we were going back to China as we were invited by technology giant, Huawei, to visit their HQ in Shenzhen. Our fCN members were welcomed by CTO of Europe, Mr. Edwin Diender, who told us more about Huawei and showed us around on the Huawei premises. We were all very much impressed by his story, the technologies that were demonstrated and felt humble because of the very warm welcome and VIP treatment that we received. An unforgettable experience.

On the last evening a very special networking dinner was organized and hosted by the Consul General of the Netherlands; Mr. Wilfred Mohr. Mr. Mohr welcomed us at his residency on the most beautiful location of Hong Kong; the Peak. We first traveled there with the unique Peak Tram, which dates from as early as 1888. During the networking dinner, our members had the chance to mix and mingle with influential business people from Hong Kong. This informal dinner was the perfect evening to conclude our Trade Mission and many new and beautiful connections were made.

The next day it was time to go back to the Netherlands. With many new impressions, new valuable contacts and an unique spark that had grown within the group we could return home satisfied and with new energy to further develop new opportunities in China and Hong Kong! Some of the fCN members who joined this Trade Mission have already scheduled their next Asia-visit for December to further develop their business because of new established contacts during the Trade Mission!

Are you interested to learn more about this Trade Mission or are you interested in joining one of fCN’s Trade Missions elsewhere in Asia, the Netherlands, Brasil or Africa, please do let us know!
